About Fluid Art

Fluid art, also known as acrylic pouring or fluid acrylic, is a contemporary technique that uses gravity and fluid dynamics to create abstract, organic designs without traditional brushes.
Fluid art could not have developed without the invention of acrylic paints. Acrylic paints revolutionized the art world by making it possible to alter the consistency of paint thus creating a more fluid medium that can be poured onto a surface and manipulated.
The technique of fluid acrylic painting was first used by the Mexican artist David Alfaro Siqueiros in the 1930s. He is the first to experiment with liquid acrylic and discovered unusual effects when different densities and colors interact. He called this effect "accidental painting". This technique became the basis of the works of some famous artists, such as Jackson Pollock, who started with "accidental painting" and developed his own technique, becoming the most famous abstract expressionist.
